Fedorov Offered the U.S. an Army of Drones in Exchange for Patriot Missiles — Financial Times
Former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has expressed his willingness to help the U.S. create its own “drone army.” In exchange, Ukraine could receive interceptor missiles for the Patriot systems, which are needed to get through the winter.
In the U.S., Fedorov is seeking investors for a new defense technology fund. This entity will not only invest Western capital in Ukrainian startups but will also independently establish new companies to develop technologies that are crucial for countering the Russian invasion.
The fund’s main priorities include developing robotic systems to reduce the need for infantry on the front lines, creating low-cost, high-speed interceptors for jet-powered drones, and developing affordable missiles that utilize artificial intelligence. According to Fedorov, interceptors for enemy drones have already been tested in Ukraine, and securing additional support will allow for their mass production.
Fedorov noted that since Russia will most likely prolong the conflict for at least another two to three years, the fund will develop cutting-edge solutions specifically for the battlefield. In return, Western investors will gain valuable and practical experience from Ukraine, acquired during the current war.
The Financial Times reports on this.
As a reminder, Fedorov has become an advisor to the Italian Minister of Defense.
Fedorov will advise the Italian defense minister on military technologies remotely.
Former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov stated that Ukraine is gradually losing its advantage in the war and has only a few months to make important changes.
