Finland to ban exports of medicines and medical technology to Russia — Yle

The Finnish government has decided to significantly restrict the supply of medical and pharmaceutical products to the aggressor country.

This was reported by Yle.

Officials in Helsinki fear that goods previously considered exclusively civilian could be used by the enemy to meet the needs of its army.

Elina Rimpi, head of the sanctions department at the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, explained that there is currently clear evidence of such products being used for military purposes.

This has forced the authorities to review their policy on issuing special export permits.

Although certain medical goods are already subject to EU sanctions, Finland has until now used a system of exemptions to allow their supply.

A new decree from the country’s foreign ministry will revoke these permits starting in July of this year.

The restrictions will apply to a wide range of products, including modern medical technologies and dental equipment.

According to Foreign Ministry officials, controls on the export of such goods will become significantly stricter to prevent them from reaching the occupying forces.

The President of Finland stated that Europe has not yet decided on its relations with Russia
