Fico declined to attend the May 9 parade in Moscow despite his visit to Russia
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has decided not to attend the military parade in Moscow on May 9. However, he is not canceling his trip to Russia.
This was reported by the publication Dennik N.
According to the publication, the Slovak prime minister has revised the format of his visit to Moscow and declined to participate in the parade.
Instead, Robert Fico plans to focus on memorial events. In particular, he intends to lay flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
In addition, before traveling to Moscow, the prime minister will visit Munich, where he will tour the former Dachau concentration camp.
The day before, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico suggested the possibility of another shutdown of the Druzhba oil pipeline shortly after the European Union’s loan for Ukraine is approved.
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico stated that the release of the €90 billion EU loan for Ukraine is taking place in parallel with the resumption of oil supplies via the Druzhba pipeline, and that these processes are interrelated.
EU ambassadors approved a €90 billion loan for Ukraine and also agreed on the 20th package of sanctions against Russia.
The European Commission has finalized the key elements of a €90 billion financial support package for Ukraine for 2026–2027. The first tranche is expected to be disbursed as early as the second quarter of this year.
