A Russian academic has stated that vacationing is safe, despite drone attacks and oil rains

Gennady Onishchenko, an academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, stated that Russia is “the safest country for vacationing,” despite drone attacks and environmental incidents.

According to him, there are allegedly no dangerous infectious diseases in Russia, so citizens should choose such destinations for their vacations. He also warned against traveling to Southeast Asia, where, he claims, cholera is spreading.

The statement came amid new attacks on Russian territory. Specifically, in Yekaterinburg, a drone struck a skyscraper, injuring at least nine people. Another five were injured in the Belgorod region.

In addition, energy infrastructure facilities, including oil refineries and marine terminals, are under attack. In Tuapse, an “oil rain” was recorded following a fire at an oil terminal, and environmentalists warned of the risks of large-scale pollution and possible acid rain.

A toxiccloud from the fire in Tuapse reached Anapa.
