The EU has announced its intention to step up pressure on Moscow following the incident in Romania. This refers to a Russian drone crashing into a residential building, resulting in civilian casualties. The European Union has emphasized the need to intensify sanctions and political pressure on Russia.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen made this statement on social media platform X.

“Russia’s military aggression has crossed yet another line. A densely populated area of Romania was hit by a Russian drone, injuring civilians. This happened on EU territory. We stand in full solidarity with Romania and its people,” von der Leyen wrote.

According to her, the EU will continue to strengthen its security and deterrence measures, especially on the eastern border, and “will continue to increase pressure on Russia.”

“We are preparing the 21st package of sanctions,” she concluded.
