Trump's Peace Council Fund Has Not Received the Promised Billions — FT

The Peace Council, established by U.S. President Donald Trump to oversee the post-war reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, has yet to receive the promised funding four months after its launch.

This was reported by the Financial Times, citing its own informed sources familiar with the situation.

Not a single dollar has yet been received by the organization from international donors.

According to the influential financial publication, several foreign countries had previously publicly pledged a total of $17 billion for the Peace Council. Despite high-profile political statements and grand announcements, there are no actual funds in the fund’s accounts.

“Not a single dollar has been credited,” said one of the FT’s sources, describing the current state of funding.

Due to the complete lack of funding, the Peace Council has found itself in a state of legal and political uncertainty. As a result, key processes have stalled, and the implementation of projects to rebuild Gaza has effectively ground to a halt.

Currently, there is no progress on the organization’s main priorities, including the disarmament of Hamas and the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip.

The publication also claims that “not a single U.S. dollar” has been spent on the reconstruction of Gaza.

Experts cite the organization’s opaque financial structure as the main reason for the blocking of funding tranches.

According to sources, the Peace Council accepts donations directly through a JPMorgan bank account, rather than through a fund managed by the World Bank and the UN.

This approach has raised serious questions among the international community regarding the transparency of how the funds will be used.
