Israel is taking out new Hamas leaders in Gaza one by one — BBC
Mohammed Odeh, the commander of Hamas’s military wing, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in the Gaza Strip. Israel considers him one of the “architects” of the bloody attack on October 7, 2023.
This was reported by the BBC.
The senior official of the terrorist group was killed on Tuesday, May 26, as a result of a targeted attack on a residential building in downtown Gaza City.
This elimination took place just two weeks after his predecessor, Izz ad-Din al-Haddad, was also killed in a similar airstrike by Israeli forces.
According to eyewitness accounts and reports from local medical personnel, at least three people were killed in this airstrike, and dozens more civilians sustained injuries of varying severity.
The Israeli military, in conjunction with the Shin Bet security service, officially stated that the multi-story building was being used by the militant leader as a secret hideout.
The IDF emphasized that intelligence had been continuously monitoring all of Odeh’s movements for several months.
“Odeh was responsible for the killing, kidnapping, and wounding of many Israeli citizens and IDF soldiers,” the Israeli military said in an official statement.
According to local eyewitnesses, at least five rockets struck the upper floors of the Al-Qayali residential building almost simultaneously.
This building is located in one of the busiest neighborhoods of Gaza City, near the local market. At the time of the rocket strike, the surrounding streets were crowded with pedestrians on the eve of the major Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha.
Due to the extensive damage to the building’s structure and significant traffic congestion in the area, rescue workers were unable to reach the upper floors for a long time to provide assistance.
