Photo: Images show a damaged apartment in Romania following a Russian drone strike in Galați
Photos showing the aftermath of a drone strike on a residential building have been released online. In Romania, photos have been published showing the interior of an apartment on the top floor of a high-rise building in Galați, which was struck on the night of May 29 by a Russian “Shahed”-type drone that pierced the building’s roof.
The photos were published by Mediafax.
Images from the site of the drone strike show that the explosion breached the roof above the top 10th floor, directly above the apartment’s entrance area.
A hole over 2 meters long and over a meter wide, containing rebar debris, is visible on the ceiling of the apartment’s hallway, and traces of fire are visible in the hallway.
Significant damage is visible directly on the roof of the high-rise building, with windows in the common hallway near the roof exit shattered.

Earlier, the United States responded to an incident in the Romanian city of Galați, where a Russian drone struck a high-rise building. Washington condemned the violation of Romanian airspace and the strike on a civilian facility, calling it an unacceptable escalation.
Romania explained why it did not intercept the Russian drone that struck the building.
During the Russian strike on the Odesa region on April 25, Russian drones were moving along the border with Romania. British aircraft patrolling Romanian airspace tracked their routes. Later, drone debris was found in border areas of Romania.
The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Russian ambassador over the incident involving a drone crash near the city of Galați.
