French politicians have reacted with outrage to Trump's remarks about Macron

U.S. President Donald Trump’s behavior and remarks directed at French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife have drawn sharp criticism from French politicians. 

According to The Guardian, even Macron’s staunchest domestic critics have come to his defense. In particular, Yaël Braun-Pivet, the president of the French National Assembly, emphasized that Trump’s remarks were untrue. She noted that while the world is discussing the future and people are dying, the U.S. president is allowing himself to mock others.

Manuel Bompard, coordinator of the far-left party “Unbowed France,” also called Trump’s remarks completely unacceptable. Despite significant political differences with Macron, he stressed that the way the American leader spoke about the French president and his wife is unacceptable. The situation has caused a significant stir in French political circles, where Trump’s remarks were perceived as a sign of disrespect toward world leaders amid global challenges.
