The FSB announced that it had foiled an assassination attempt on Roskomnadzor officials
The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation reported that it had foiled a “terrorist attack” against the leadership of Roskomnadzor. According to the Russian security services, the attack was allegedly planned to be carried out by detonating a car bomb.
A statement from the FSB’s Public Relations Center notes that the operation was “foiled” on April 18, 2026.
Seven people suspected of involvement in planning the crime were detained in Moscow, Ufa, Novosibirsk, and Yaroslavl.
According to the FSB, all those detained were allegedly recruited via a messaging app. The group’s organizer was identified as a Moscow resident born in 2004, who, according to the agency, “offered armed resistance” during his arrest and was killed.
The Russian security service also stated that during searches of the suspects’ premises, weapons, explosive devices, “neo-Nazi symbols,” and materials allegedly linked to Ukrainian military units were seized.
Cases have now been opened under articles regarding the illegal circulation of weapons and explosives. At the same time, the FSB stated that they may additionally charge the suspects with preparing a terrorist act.
The security service also claims that Ukrainian entities are allegedly engaged in activities directed against the Russian information space, specifically regarding the blocking of the Telegram messaging app.
Earlier, the FSB of the Russian Federation stated that those detained in the case of the attempted assassination of First Deputy Chief of the GRU, Lieutenant General Vladimir Alekseyev, had confessed to their guilt.
