Chinese Foreign Minister begins annual African tour
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has started his customary African tour, scheduled to last until January 12. During this trip, he will visit Ethiopia, Somalia, Tanzania, and Lesotho to strengthen political trust and develop the partnership between China and African nations.
During the visit, Wang Yi will participate in the opening ceremony of the China-Africa Year of Humanitarian Exchanges at the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa. This tour marks an important diplomatic tradition, with Africa being the first overseas destination for Chinese foreign ministers at the start of the new year for 36 consecutive years.
Deepening cooperation with African countries could enhance China’s influence on the continent and promote the development of joint projects across various sectors.
