Head of South Korea’s nuclear regulator to attend IAEA conference in Vienna — Korea Herald

Chairman of South Korea’s Nuclear Safety and Security Commission Choi Won-ho will attend the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, Austria, this week. Korea Herald reports, citing the South Korean agency.

Conference in Vienna

The IAEA meeting will run from Monday to Friday local time. According to the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission, representatives of 180 countries will take part.

Regulators’ meetings

Choi Won-ho also plans to attend a meeting of the International Nuclear Regulators Association. This advisory body was established in 1997. The association includes nine countries, including the United States, Canada, Japan and Germany.

Bilateral contacts

The commission head is expected to hold meetings with his counterparts from the United Arab Emirates, the Czech Republic and Singapore. South Korea’s Nuclear Safety and Security Commission said the parties would seek areas for cooperation.
