Google may restrict Russian developers from publishing Android apps worldwide
Google is introducing mandatory identity verification for Android app developers, which could prevent developers from Russia from distributing their apps outside the country.
The new rules will apply to developers of apps for devices running Android 7 and later versions. Due to U.S. sanctions, developers from Russia, Iran, Cuba, and North Korea may not be able to pass the verification process.
Google explained that the changes are intended to improve user security and help combat fraudulent apps. The company confirmed that developers from sanctioned countries will not be granted access to the verification system.
