Hadramout Governor Urges STC Forces to Withdraw Amid Push Toward Seiyun
Hadramout governor Salem al-Khanbashi has announced that his forces are advancing toward the city of Seiyun after taking control of al-Khashaa, the largest military base in the province, from STC-aligned units. He called on STC forces to withdraw in order to prevent further bloodshed.
Authorities said al-Khanbashi has been appointed to lead the “Homeland Shield” forces in the eastern province, granting him full military, security and administrative authority as part of an effort to restore order and stability.
In a public address, the governor stressed that the move does not amount to a declaration of war, saying the objective is to prevent the use of military bases to threaten security and to protect Hadramout from sliding into chaos.
Tensions remain high in the region, and developments around Seiyun may play a key role in shaping the balance of power in eastern Yemen.
