The governor of Leningrad Oblast described the region as being near the front lines
Alexander Drozdov, governor of the Leningrad Region, claimed that the region has allegedly become a “frontline area.” According to him, this is evidenced by the fact that 243 Ukrainian drones were shot down over the region in the first quarter of 2026; these drones were allegedly attempting to strike economic targets and port infrastructure.
This is reported by Russian media.
He also emphasized that the region shares a long border with NATO countries. In the region, he said, defensive structures for energy infrastructure continue to be built; in particular, concrete towers and observation posts have already been erected, and mobile fire groups are being formed.
Separately, Drozdzenko mentioned internet outages, attributing them to “security concerns,” and urged residents not to complain about such restrictions.
Russia has sent copies of HIMARS to the front.
Over the past 24 hours, Ukrainian defenders have repelled a large-scale offensive by Russian occupiers, recording a total of 158 combat engagements across the entire front line.
As a reminder, the Ukrainian Air Force warned of high activity by Russian drones.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine also thwarted a Russian offensive planned for March.
