India and Canada begin fourth round of trade agreement talks
In New Delhi, India, India and Canada on Monday, September 14, began the fourth round of negotiations on the proposed Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). According to an unnamed official, the sides expect to conclude the negotiations in 2026.
Five-day round of negotiations
The meeting will last five days, from September 14 to 18. As The Hindu International reports, during the round the sides will discuss trade in goods and services, rules of origin, technical barriers to trade, and other issues. These areas are explicitly listed in the report as matters that are to feature on the negotiation agenda.

Target for bilateral trade
The negotiations are taking place against the backdrop of India and Canada’s shared goal of increasing bilateral trade to $50 billion by 2030. The Hindu International describes the negotiations as important in view of this target, which the countries plan to reach by 2030.
