Iran attacked a U.S. airbase in Saudi Arabia and destroyed a rare $500 million aircraft
The United States suffered significant technological and financial losses during the attack in the Middle East. As a result of the massive bombardment of Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia, Iranian missiles and drones destroyed a rare E-3 Sentry (AWACS) long-range radar detection aircraft.
This was reported by The Telegraph.
The cost of a single such aircraft is about $500 million, and the total number of such aircraft in the U.S. arsenal is limited.
Earlier reports indicated that 12 American service members were wounded during the attack, and several refueling aircraft were damaged. It later emerged that the E-3 Sentry had also sustained critical damage.
These aircraft play a key role in combat operations, as they allow for monitoring the air situation at a considerable distance and detecting threats hundreds of kilometers away.
OSINT analyst TheIntelFrog released photos of the destroyed aircraft. The images show that the rear section of the aircraft, where the radar and critical equipment are located, is completely destroyed.
At the same time, Iranian state media spread false information about an alleged attack on a warehouse of Ukrainian anti-drone systems in the UAE. The reports claimed that Ukrainian drones were targeted and that 21 Ukrainian citizens were allegedly killed.
However, no confirmation or evidence of these claims has been made public. The Ukrainian side called such reports information manipulation that echoes the methods of Russian propaganda.
The day before, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced possible strikes on American universities in the Middle East.
Meanwhile, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance stated that the U.S. intends to continue the war with Iran for some time to neutralize the country for a “very long period.”
