Iran has agreed to discuss its nuclear program with the United States

Iran has agreed to discuss its nuclear program with the United States

Official Tehran has expressed its willingness to make significant concessions in negotiations with the United States, agreeing to discuss restrictions on its nuclear program. Specifically, Iran is proposing to cap uranium enrichment at 3.5% and gradually reduce its existing stockpiles.

Al Arabiya reports this, citing its own sources.

In addition to the nuclear issue, the new proposal includes a plan for the phased resumption of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. This is to take place in exchange for the lifting of the U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports. Such a step could be decisive for stabilizing global energy markets, as Bloomberg previously reported a decline in oil production in Iran due precisely to logistical constraints.

Tehran has also revised its security demands: instead of a radical withdrawal of American troops from the region, the country now insists on halting the buildup of U.S. military power near its borders. Iran seeks to obtain international guarantees of non-aggression in the future. These concessions signal a shift in the Iranian leadership’s strategy amid intensifying economic and military pressure from Washington. An official response from the White House to the updated package of proposals is currently expected.

Earlier, Tehran sent the United States a 14-point proposal calling for an end to hostilities within a month. The plan includes demands for the complete lifting of U.S. sanctions, an end to the naval blockade of Iranian ports, and the withdrawal of U.S. troops from the region. However, it makes no mention of halting uranium enrichment.

Iran has announced a plan for strict control over the Strait of Hormuz, through which a significant portion of the world’s oil passes. Ships from “hostile countries” may be allowed passage only after paying compensation.

The Iranian government has decided to cut oil production due to the U.S. naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, which has significantly limited its ability to trade. At the same time, Tehran was prepared in advance for developments following this scenario.
