Iran is demanding compensation from Middle Eastern countries over the blockade and U.S. actions

Iran has appealed to the international community, demanding compensation from several Middle Eastern countries. These include Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Jordan, which, according to Tehran, must compensate for “material and moral damages.”

This was stated by Iran’s Ambassador to the UN, Amir Saeed Iravani, in a letter to UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

The Iranian diplomat called on countries in the region hosting U.S. military bases to “cease their actions that violate international law.” He also sharply criticized the U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports, calling it a violation of sovereignty.

“The imposition of a naval blockade constitutes a serious violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The illegal blockade also constitutes a serious violation of the fundamental principles of international maritime law,” Iravani stated.

According to him, the situation around the strategic strait, through which about one-fifth of the world’s oil and gas supplies pass, remains tense. It is this region that has become a key point of confrontation between the U.S. and Iran within the negotiation process.

Iravani emphasized that the “illegal” blockade “poses a serious threat to international peace and security and, obviously, increases the risk of conflict escalation in a region that is already in an extremely unstable state.”

As a reminder, any U.S. warships will be sunk if they attempt to block Iranian ports.

The United States and Iran continue to engage in negotiations, as both sides seek a diplomatic solution to the conflict.
