Iranian parliament speaker rules out ceasefire due to US violations

Speaker of the Iranian parliament, Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf, stated that a ceasefire is unfeasible as the United States violated three of the ten points of Iran's proposal before negotiations began.

According to Ghalibaf, the breaches include the failure to establish a ceasefire in Lebanon, where Israeli strikes caused 250-300 casualties; the violation of Iranian airspace, evidenced by the destruction of a drone near Lara; and the US demand for Iran to surrender its uranium, contradicting Iran’s right to enrich uranium.

White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt claims the ceasefire may not last two weeks. She explains that Iran initially proposed a 10-point plan deemed unacceptable and rejected by former President Donald Trump. Subsequently, Iran offered a new, "reasonable" plan aligned with US proposals, but Trump remains firm on his "red line" insisting on the cessation of uranium enrichment.

Iranian demands are described as absurd, complicating prospects for meaningful dialogue between the parties.

This development highlights the ongoing tensions between Iran and the US, which are pivotal for regional security in the Middle East.

Unless negotiations resume on a constructive basis, the conflict risks further escalation with significant repercussions for international stability.
