Spain and Morocco have dismantled a dangerous jihadist cell

A joint operation by the Spanish National Police and Moroccan intelligence (DGST) resulted in the successful arrest of three suspected members of a radical Islamist group.

This was reported by official law enforcement representatives, confirming the high level of coordination between the intelligence services of the two countries, according to El Pais.

Two active members of the cell were detained in the Moroccan city of Tangier, while the third suspect was apprehended by Spanish police.

The alleged leader of the terrorist group was arrested in the center of Palma, Spain, at his own residence.

According to the investigation, the group’s leader intended to carry out a large-scale attack on Spanish soil.

To carry out his criminal plan, he intended to use the specific “lone wolf” tactic, which involves acting independently without direct orders from leadership.

The individuals detained in Tangier played a key role in sustaining the terrorist network’s operations outside Morocco.

They were directly involved in “financing and providing logistical support to active militants” of known “Islamic State” cells.

As a reminder, the SBU announced that it had charged a woman from Kharkiv who lured police officers into a terrorist attack in Lviv.

Also, on the night of February 18, an explosion occurred at the premises of the TCC and SP. The incident has already been classified as a terrorist act.
