Israel is preparing a lawsuit against The New York Times following an article about rape

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Gideon Saar have ordered the preparation of a defamation lawsuit against The New York Times over a column by Nicholas Kristof.

This was reported byleading Israeli media outlets.

In Israel, the article was called “distorted and untrue, while the Prime Minister’s Office stated that the piece had the support of the newspaper’s editorial board.

In response, The New York Times rejected the accusations, stating that the article had been thoroughly verified and was based on testimonies from Palestinians, as well as data from human rights and international organizations, including UN materials.

The article, published in the “Opinion” section, caused a significant stir because it contained allegations of sexual violence against Israeli soldiers and other individuals. At the same time, the Israeli side emphasizes that such claims are baseless and politically motivated.

As a reminder, the BBC is asking the court to dismiss Trump’s $10 billion lawsuit.
