Israel launches surprise drill to test army readiness
Surprise Dawn 2.0 military exercises have begun in Israel to test the readiness of the General Staff and key command centers of the Israel Defense Forces. The exercise is being held under the leadership of Chief of the General Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, The Jerusalem Post reports.
Testing response to attacks
According to the Israeli military, the aim of the maneuvers is to test the army's readiness and ability to respond to large-scale attacks. The exercise is being conducted as part of preparations to strengthen defenses ahead of the holiday period.
During the maneuvers, unexpected scenarios and events in several directions, including across all possible theaters of combat operations, will be practiced. Commanders of all army units have been involved, forces have been mobilized, and reserve capabilities are being assessed.

The military is also checking the implementation of operational plans, taking into account the experience of combat operations on different fronts and the events of October 7.
Movement of military forces
The Israel Defense Forces warned that more active movement of military forces, including aircraft, will be visible across the country during the exercise. At the same time, the military said there are no grounds to fear a security incident.
The publication noted that the exercise began the day after it reported on Israeli intelligence assessments, according to which Iran is allegedly preparing for a broad coordinated attack on Israel from several fronts. According to these assessments and Arab media reports, Tehran seeks to unite its own forces, Lebanon's Hezbollah, Hamas, the Houthis in Yemen, and pro-Iranian groups in Iraq in a single campaign.
