Iranian Navy threatens attacks on tankers in ports of Kuwait and Bahrain
The Iranian Navy said that oil tankers in the ports of Kuwait and Bahrain would become targets of retaliatory attacks and called on their crews to leave the vessels immediately. As Anadolu Agency reports, the statement was distributed by Iranian state broadcaster IRIB.
Warning for crews
According to the Iranian Navy's statement, the warning was a response to alleged U.S. military attacks against several Iranian oil tankers. The Iranian side called on all crews of tankers docked in the ports of Kuwait and Bahrain to leave their vessels.
In the statement, Kuwait and Bahrain were accused of hosting U.S. forces and cooperating with the United States during attacks on Iranian vessels. These claims were cited in the IRIB report.

Claims of strikes on Iranian tankers
Earlier, on September 8, Iran's Tasnim agency said that a small Iranian oil tanker was allegedly hit by a U.S. missile about four nautical miles from Khark Island in the gulf. According to Tasnim, there were no casualties and the crew was evacuated.
IRIB also claims that the U.S. military attacked another Iranian oil tanker near the coast of Jask in southern Iran. The events are unfolding amid tensions between Iran and the United States over the Strait of Hormuz, despite the signing in June of a memorandum that envisaged an agreement to open the strategic waterway as a precondition for a broader peace agreement.
