Israel forms group after two soldiers killed by drone — Jerusalem Post

Investigation of the incident

The group will be headed by a brigadier general from the Ground Forces. It is to examine the circumstances of the incident in order to prevent a similar case from recurring.

After the incident, the Israel Defense Forces are to ground all attack drones for 48 hours. After that, the military will conduct a reassessment of the situation.

Deaths of servicemen in the Gaza Strip

The deceased were reserve majors Nadav Kali, 24, from Har Halutz, and Ofek Moalem, 23, from Jerusalem. According to the commander of the 99th Division, Brigadier General Elad Tsuri, the servicemen operated the drone and successfully completed the first operation.

During the second operation, the drone fell on the territory of their stronghold in the northern Gaza Strip. The servicemen went to inspect the crash site, after which the drone exploded. An Atalef kamikaze drone, which the Israel Defense Forces have used since the beginning of the war, was involved in the incident.
