L-410 crashes during military flight in DR Congo, killing 13 — AeroTime

A Let L-410 aircraft operating a military flight from Kikwit to Kinshasa crashed in Kenge, in the southwestern Kwango province of the Democratic Republic of Congo, on September 25, 2026. All 13 people on board were killed, AeroTime reports.

Attempted emergency landing

The aircraft was operated by Tracep Congo Aviation. According to reports, the plane, registered as 9S-GUC, was heading to Ndolo Airport in Kinshasa.

Kwango Vice Governor Remy Saki Bokinda told Reuters that the aircraft experienced a technical malfunction. According to him, the aircraft attempted to land in Kenge but crashed onto a residential property.

A general among the dead

Bokinda said that those on board included the auditor general of the Congolese army, General Likulia Bakumi, as well as other military personnel and civilians. Local media reported that the aircraft circled over Kenge while the pilot searched for a place to make an emergency landing.

According to the authorities, there were no deaths or injuries on the ground. The Congolese Press Agency reported that the crash occurred in the Manzau area. Local police chief Jean-Pierre Negidi said that the circumstances and cause of the accident are still being established. An aviation accident investigation body is launching an investigation, according to a government statement cited by Reuters.
