Israel announced that it would continue its operations in Lebanon under certain conditions
The Israeli military stated on June 22 that it would continue operations against militants in Lebanon and maintain a security zone in the south of the country if attacks—which, according to the military, pose a threat to national security—continue from Lebanese territory.
“The Israel Defense Forces will continue to act decisively to neutralize threats to our soldiers and our citizens, destroy terrorist infrastructure, and maintain a security zone in southern Lebanon,” — according to a statement by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Minister of Defense, and the Chief of the General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces.
The document emphasizes that the prime minister, the defense minister, and the Chief of the General Staff have made it clear that the safety of Israeli citizens and Israeli military personnel will remain their guiding principle without any compromise.
At the same time, U.S. President Donald Trump, speaking to reporters at the White House a few hours before the statement by Israel’s military leadership, expressed confidence in his ability to resolve the situation regarding Israel’s reluctance to withdraw its troops from southern Lebanon.
“I’m a problem-solver; I solve problems very quickly, including with Bibi,” Trump emphasized when commenting on the matter.
