Israel carried out airstrikes on Lebanon a few hours after the ceasefire was extended

The Israeli Air Force carried out a series of airstrikes in southern Lebanon, killing six people. This latest escalation in the region occurred almost immediately after the conclusion of an official round of talks between representatives of the two countries in Washington.

This was reported by The Guardian. Envoys from both countries had just agreed to extend the ceasefire for an additional 45 days, but the peace agreements reached were violated just hours after they were announced.

Beirut officials stated that an Israeli airstrike hit a medical clinic run by the Islamic Health Committee, which is affiliated with Hezbollah. Among the six victims of the strike, three were civilian paramedics carrying out a humanitarian mission. For its part, the Israeli military command denies targeting civilian facilities, asserting that the strike was aimed at militants from an extremist organization who were directly preparing rocket attacks on IDF units in southern Lebanon.

Israel agreed to a 10-day ceasefire with Lebanon and announced the start of a move toward a diplomatic settlement; however, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized that the war against Hezbollah is not yet over and military operations will continue.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated in a video address that the campaign against Iran is not yet over. At the same time, he emphasized that there have already been “historic achievements” within the framework of this operation.
