Kaja Kallas identified the Kremlin's weak spot

Kaja Kallas, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, stated that Russia is forced to take into account the West’s position on sanctions, frozen assets, and the future security architecture in Europe.

According to her, any potential negotiations with Moscow must take into account the key security interests of Europe and Ukraine, as previously outlined by the leaders of the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Ukraine.

Kallas emphasized that the European Union cannot agree to ease sanctions or unfreeze Russian assets without taking its own security interests into account.

At the same time, she noted that, despite the continued escalation of the war by Russia, there are signs of growing dissatisfaction with the war within the country.

“That is why we need to put more pressure on them,” the head of European diplomacy stated.

According to Kallas, the first step toward achieving peace must be a ceasefire. She also emphasized the need for continued support for Ukraine and the development of cooperation between European defense companies.

Zelenskyy published an open letter to Putin—full text.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Moscow is allegedly ready for negotiations to end the war against Ukraine, but sees no willingness for dialogue on the Ukrainian side.
