Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Oman react to Iranian attacks
Following Iran’s strikes on U.S. bases in Qatar, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Jordan and Bahrain, leaders of Arab and Middle Eastern countries expressed sharp concern and condemned Tehran’s actions. Countries in the region say they feel under threat and are calling on the international community to respond decisively, CNN writes.
Reaction of the Gulf countries
Qatar called the strikes a “blatant violation of national sovereignty” and emphasized that Iran’s actions demonstrate a lack of gratitude for its mediation efforts.
Kuwait recalled Article 51 of the UN Charter, noting that its air defense systems successfully repelled the attack and acted in accordance with the rules of engagement.
Oman, which has long acted as a mediator in negotiations between the United States and Iran, expressed concern. Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi wrote on X: “I am saddened. I urge the U.S. not to become further involved. This is not your war.”
Saudi Arabia described Iran’s operation as “treacherous” and pledged to use all available means to support the countries that were affected. The statement also included a call on the international community to condemn the attacks.
Iraq reported that it is monitoring the situation with “the greatest concern” and urged citizens in areas of possible strikes to seek shelter.
Iran’s strikes on U.S. military facilities have worsened the situation in the region and increased the risk of large-scale escalation. Leaders of the Gulf countries stress that Tehran’s actions violate international norms and pose a threat to civilians. Countries in the region are actively working to strengthen defense measures and are calling on the global community to respond to the “treacherous” attacks.
It should be recalled that on the morning of February 28, Israel carried out a “preemptive” strike on targets in Iran. A state of emergency was declared in the country and the airspace was closed.
