Samsung and SK chiefs may meet Nvidia head in New York — Korea Herald
Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong and SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won are expected to meet Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang in New York at the end of September. They are set to attend The Korea Society’s annual gala, scheduled for September 28, Korea Herald reports, citing industry sources.
Lee and Chey recently accepted invitations to the event. Huang will receive this year’s Van Fleet Award for his contribution to the development of relations between South Korea and the United States. The Samsung and SK leaders are expected to personally congratulate the Nvidia chief during the ceremony.
Partnership in AI chips
The three executives maintain close ties as Samsung Electronics and SK hynix expand cooperation with Nvidia in the artificial intelligence chip market. Jensen Huang has already met with Lee Jae-yong and Chey Tae-won during previous visits to South Korea.

Investments in the United States
The meeting is expected at a time when Samsung Electronics and SK hynix are increasing investments in the United States. The publication notes that Lee and Chey may also hold meetings with senior U.S. officials and representatives of American businesses on investments, incentives and supply chains.
Chey Tae-won is expected to attend the gala while in New York for events related to the UN General Assembly. According to Korea Herald, he then plans to travel to Mexico to inspect SK’s North American supply chain. Lee Jae-yong may also use his visit to the United States for meetings with executives of major technology companies.
The Van Fleet Award was established in 1992. It recognizes individuals or organizations for their contributions to Korean-American relations. The award is named after General James Van Fleet, who commanded the U.S. Eighth Army during the Korean War and helped establish The Korea Society in 1957.
