Clashes in Taiz

Yemeni forces said they had suppressed sources of hostile fire and threats in the Al-Qadaha sector on the Al-Bar front in the western part of Taiz province. Mutual ground clashes continued in the area, according to the military source.

Since April 2022, the war between government forces and the Houthis has been in a phase of relative calm. The Houthis have controlled the capital, Sanaa, and other cities and provinces since September 2014.

In recent weeks, fighting has resumed, including in the provinces of Marib, Al-Jawf, Al-Dali, and Taiz. The Saudi Arabia-led coalition supporting Yemen’s internationally recognized government backs government forces, while Iran is accused of supporting the Houthis. In July, the Houthis announced a naval blockade of Saudi Arabia.
