China has become a key guarantor of the ceasefire between the United States and Iran

China played a decisive role in brokering the ceasefire agreement between the U.S. and Iran, although Pakistan was publicly cited as the main mediator.

The Guardian reports this, citing sources.

According to sources, it was Beijing that convinced Iran to agree to the truce. At the same time, both sides were interested in ending hostilities.

The initiative to conclude the agreement, as noted, came from U.S. President Donald Trump, who sought to quickly end the conflict.

Until the very last moment, Tehran refused to agree to the deal, fearing that the U.S. might use the negotiations to regroup its forces and launch new strikes alongside its allies.

Despite this, the parties eventually reached a compromise, and China, according to sources, became the key guarantor of the ceasefire.

Additionally, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that Israel’s attacks on Lebanon undermine the possibility of further negotiations.

Trump announced U.S. cooperation with Iran regarding nuclear material.

As a reminder, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he had agreed to a two-week ceasefire with Iran, during which the parties plan to finalize a definitive agreement.

Iran agreed to open the Strait of Hormuz to shipping for two weeks—for the duration of the ceasefire with the U.S. This agreement is part of broader negotiations on de-escalation in the region.

According to anonymous sources, Chinese officials held talks with Iranian representatives to encourage Tehran to cooperate and facilitate a ceasefire with the United States.
