The Chinese government will protect domestic companies that have been hit by U.S. sanctions
This was stated by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Gao Jiaqun, according to Ukrinform.
“China will firmly defend the legitimate rights and interests of its enterprises,” said Guo, commenting on the latest U.S. sanctions against 12 individuals and entities, including four companies from Hong Kong, for facilitating the supply of Iranian oil to China.
The diplomat did not specify what measures Beijing might take, but emphasized that the country finds restrictions imposed by other states unacceptable.
“China firmly opposes illegal unilateral sanctions that have no basis in international law and have not been approved by the UN Security Council,” the Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated.
As a reminder, China is preparing for a protracted economic war in response to U.S. sanctions.
It is also known that the Chinese government has ordered banks to suspend lending to sanctioned oil refineries. Additionally, China has threatened the UK over sanctions against companies linked to Russia.
