Former chef pleads guilty to providing services to people attempting suicide — BBC

Former chef Kenneth Lowe pleaded guilty to selling chemicals used for suicide online. Lowe made the plea during a trial at the Newmarket Court in Ontario, as most of his customers were Canadian citizens.

This was reported by the BBC.

Law was charged with the murder of 14 teenagers who took their own lives by ingesting the chemicals. After he pleaded guilty to inciting or aiding suicide, the murder charges against him were dropped. Sentencing is scheduled for September.

According to the investigation, Lowe—a former chef—advertised and sold online a chemical used for meat preservation. When ingested in high doses, it is lethal.

Law enforcement believes that Lowe may be linked to the suicides of more than 100 people worldwide who purchased chemicals from him. He has been in custody since May 2023.

Among those to whom Lowe sold chemicals for suicide were, it is believed, residents of the United Kingdom. British law enforcement officials did not press charges themselves, stating that they are relying on the Canadian justice system.

Under Canadian law, charges of inciting or aiding suicide carry a sentence of up to 14 years in prison. On the murder charge, Lowe faces up to 25 years without the possibility of parole.

On April 28, at around 8:25 p.m., a 42-year-old Australian citizen jumped from the observation deck of City Hall, leaving behind a suicide note.

The suspect in the murder of Iryna Farion attempted to stage a suicide in court.
