The Polish Consulate building in New York was damaged

The building of the Polish Consulate General in New York has been damaged. Unknown individuals vandalized the facade and damaged a surveillance camera and information stands installed near the diplomatic mission. The police have already launched an investigation, and Polish diplomats say they are taking the incident very seriously. This was reported by RMF24.

Unknown individuals damaged the building of the Consulate General of Poland in New York. In particular, the facade of the diplomatic mission was damaged. One of the surveillance cameras was also damaged. According to journalists, the camera lens was deliberately painted over, rendering it inoperable.

In addition, the unknown individuals vandalized information panels that were part of an exhibition set up in front of the consulate. At this time, there is no official information on exactly when the incident occurred or whether there were any witnesses to the event.

After the damage was reported, the New York Police Department became involved in the case. Law enforcement officials are establishing all the circumstances of the incident and are also trying to determine who is responsible for the damage to the diplomatic facility. So far, there is no information about any detainees or suspects.

Investigators are reviewing surveillance camera footage and other potential evidence that could help identify those responsible.

The Polish diplomatic service emphasized that it is closely monitoring the situation. Consulate representatives stated that they are taking the incident extremely seriously and are in contact with U.S. law enforcement agencies. It is not currently known whether the incident has affected the consulate’s operations or its ability to serve citizens.

At the same time, diplomats expect that all the circumstances of the incident will be quickly established and that those responsible will be held accountable.

Diplomatic missions are under special protection in accordance with international law. Any attacks, damage, or acts of vandalism against consulates and embassies are viewed with particular concern by both the host country and the state they represent.

That is why even seemingly minor damage to a consulate’s building or equipment can trigger a serious response from diplomatic services. Currently, the Polish side is awaiting the results of the investigation being conducted by the New York Police Department.
