Lufthansa has canceled hundreds of flights due to a workers' strike

Lufthansa has canceled hundreds of flights due to a workers' strike

Employees of the German airline Lufthansa will continue their strike on Thursday and Friday, leading to further widespread flight cancellations.

This was reported by Tagesschau.

Both pilots and flight attendants have joined the protest. The strike, which has been ongoing since the beginning of the week, has already significantly impacted air travel, and its continuation will only exacerbate flight disruptions.

Specifically, the action covers all of the company’s flights from Frankfurt am Main and Munich, as well as flights operated by its subsidiary Cityline. Additionally, the pilots’ strike will extend to Eurowings.

The protesters’ main demands concern the terms of the collective bargaining agreement for flight attendants, as well as pension benefits for pilots. At the same time, the parties have rejected arbitration, which complicates a swift resolution of the conflict.

Hundreds more flights are expected to be canceled due to the strike, affecting thousands of passengers across Europe.

Starting Monday night, April 13, pilots from Germany’s largest airlines, including Deutsche Lufthansa AG and Eurowings, launched another wave of protests.

Qatar Airways has sharply increased the number of flights and, for the first time since the conflict began, operated 200 flights from Doha in a single day.
