Pashinyan declared a crushing victory over his opponents following his election win
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan congratulated the public on the results of the parliamentary elections and declared a decisive victory for the “Civic Contract” party. Commenting on the election results, the head of government emphasized that his political party had secured a decisive lead over its main rivals.
Pashinyan noted that the people, through their votes, “took independence into their own hands, took the future into their own hands, took peace into their own hands, and took the Republic of Armenia into their own hands.”
“And I must note that the three-headed party of war has been defeated,” he said.
During the election campaign, Pashinyan used the phrase “three-headed war party” to refer to opposition forces, claiming that they oppose his course toward a peace agreement with Azerbaijan and seek to revise the agreements reached. In his view, the return of these politicians to power could lead to a new armed conflict and jeopardize Armenia’s sovereignty.
“But this is an important, though not final, result, because I believe the people have also clearly expressed their will: the three-headed party of war and the criminal-oligarchic system associated with it must be eradicated from the Republic of Armenia, and, of course, this will be one of the most important tasks of the political majority and the government, which we must carry out without delay, taking very decisive and firm measures,” Pashinyan said at a joint meeting of the standing committees of the current parliament.
He also noted that his party, “Civic Contract,” will hold a parliamentary majority and will form the government.
