A songwriter for Britney Spears and Dua Lipa was killed in London

Talai Riley (real name Mark Orabie), a 35-year-old singer, songwriter, and producer, was tragically killed in the eastern part of the British capital. 

The famous artist’s life was cut short as a result of a brutal attack involving a knife

Medical personnel and law enforcement officers arrived at the scene promptly, but they were unable to save the man.

The tragedy occurred on the morning of Friday, June 5, 2026, in the London neighborhood of Silvertown. Around 9:00 a.m., police received an emergency call to a house on Railway Road, where they later found the injured musician in the garden. 

Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene of the attack due to multiple stab wounds.

During the same incident, another young man under the age of 30 was injured and hospitalized. His life is not currently in danger, and his condition is considered stable. 

The capital’s police have already detained three individuals on suspicion of murder: after questioning, two of them were released, and the 27-year-old suspect was released on bail pending the investigation.

Talai Riley was a major figure in the global music industry and regularly collaborated with top-tier stars. He has toured with artists such as Skepta, Usher, and Trey Songz. 

His songwriting portfolio includes dozens of tracks that have dominated leading radio stations and global charts over the past decade.

The artist has written and co-written many well-known pop and rap hits. Among his most famous works are the songs:

  • Dua Lipa — “Last Dance”
  • Chipmunk — “Oopsy Daisy” (No. 1 platinum single in the UK)
  • Khalid — “Young Dumb & Broke”
  • David Guetta, Martin Garrix & Brooks — “Like I Do”
  • Britney Spears — “Clumsy”

The sudden death of the talented songwriter caused deep shock and a wave of grief among his peers. Popular rapper Stormzy wrote on social media: “My condolences, brother.” 

British singer Craig David also shared his feelings: “Sending so much love to you and your family. His beautiful energy will continue to be felt from the other side.” 

For his part, rapper Chip added emotionally: “You didn’t deserve to go like this, my friend. Your legacy will live on forever.” TV host Rochelle Humes emphasized that she will always remember his amazing kindness toward everyone and his friendly smile.

The immediate family of the late Mark Orabia released an official statement expressing their grief over this irreparable loss. They noted that he was a wonderful son, a caring brother, and a trusted friend to many.
