Crimean hotels are offering gasoline instead of discounts due to the severe fuel crisis

Crimean hotels are offering gasoline instead of discounts due to the severe fuel crisis

In occupied Crimea, the hotel industry has begun luring tourists with free fuel due to the widespread crisis on the peninsula.

Since the free sale of gasoline has effectively been halted, vacationers are being given liters of fuel for booking rooms

This has become a desperate attempt by local entrepreneurs to save the summer season from a complete collapse.

According to monitoring services, travelers are offered a specific “fuel barter” upon request directly upon check-in. For stays of two nights or more, guests receive 10 liters of gasoline, and for stays of three nights or more, 20 liters.

This unusual incentive was introduced to compensate for the sharp drop in demand for standard resort services such as spas or beach activities.

The fuel shortage on the peninsula worsened significantly in early June 2026 due to strict restrictions imposed by the occupying authorities. Currently, vehicles can be refueled exclusively with special coupons limited to 20 liters per person.

The free retail sale of gasoline to ordinary citizens and visitors to the region has been completely suspended.

To address the crisis, the occupation administration launched a hotline and designated specific gas stations for refueling vehicles leaving the region. However, the leadership of the occupation regime openly acknowledges its helplessness in the face of the massive shortage.

In particular, the head of the Crimean occupation authorities, Sergey Aksyonov, stated that “it is currently impossible to fully meet the demand for fuel.”

Due to the total shortage, car owners found themselves trapped and faced serious difficulties while attempting to leave the peninsula. A significant portion of vacationers are effectively stranded at resorts with no way to return home.

This has sparked a wave of outrage and panic among those who arrived for their vacation in their own vehicles.
