Lavrov said that Russia will not end the war for the sake of negotiations with Ukraine
On September 12, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Russia has no intention of halting hostilities during any potential negotiations with Ukraine. According to him, Moscow does not view ending the war as a precondition for negotiations.
“We remain ready for negotiations, but we will not halt the special military operation for the duration of the talks,” he told reporters at the BRICS summit in New Delhi.
Separately, Lavrov called Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s invitation to visit Moscow a “huge gesture of goodwill” on Russia’s part.
Earlier, Lavrov stated that Russia appreciated the U.S. approach to the peace plan.
Russia will continue the war against Ukraine and rejects the proposal regarding civilian ships, Lavrov said.
U.S. Special Envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner discussed with Moscow and Kyiv possible steps to reduce the intensity of hostilities during the winter.
