Levin handed Shin Bet the decision on protecting party leaders in Israel — Jerusalem Post
In Israel, Justice Minister Yariv Levin delegated to Shin Bet the authority to determine the necessary protection measures for party leaders who currently do not hold official state positions. According to the Jerusalem Post, this happened after all other members of the ministerial committee on Shin Bet failed to attend the meeting convened to consider the matter.
The committee did not make a decision
The committee, chaired by Levin, was meant to decide whether such party leaders would receive protection until the 26th Knesset is sworn in. Only Levin attended the meeting, so he allowed Shin Bet to independently determine which security measures were needed for each of the relevant party leaders.

Recommendation for Eisenkot
The issue of protecting party leaders without official positions was raised last month. Central Elections Committee Chairman Justice Noam Sohlberg asked the head of the National Security Council to have the relevant bodies consider the matter following requests, including from Gadi Eisenkot and Yair Golan.
The public committee that determines security measures for public figures recommended providing protection to Yashar party leader Gadi Eisenkot until the election. The recommendation was submitted for consideration by the committee chaired by Levin. Even before it was adopted, former senior officials from the Israel Defense Forces, Shin Bet, and Mossad called for Eisenkot to be given protection, citing concerns that he could become a target, as well as the increasingly radical tone of public discourse.
