Positions of parliamentary caucuses
Afenyo-Markin noted that the opportunity to present arguments had been given specifically to caucus leaders, who were to speak on their behalf. In his view, the speaker should take into account the positions of the caucus leaders before making a decision.
The Minority Leader also said that the country’s image was at stake. He believes that sufficient time to set out the positions would help the speaker assess all arguments and determine whether the matter is admissible for consideration by parliament.
His address was part of the arguments that the sides in the chamber are presenting to the speaker before his decision on the matter.
