Hospital in Gaza Strip to limit operations due to fuel supply cutoff — Anadolu Agency
In the Gaza Strip, Palestine, the Kuwait Specialized Hospital will suspend most medical services from Sunday due to the cessation of fuel supplies. The facility will admit only critical patients in the general and obstetric emergency departments, Anadolu Agency reports.
Which services will be suspended
The hospital administration said it had received an official notification from the World Health Organization that fuel supplies to the facility would be halted.
As a result, the hospital will stop surgeries, deliveries, outpatient clinic operations, treatment procedures, as well as radiology and laboratory services. The restrictions will also affect ambulance operations, patient transportation, the dental center, the vascular care and diabetic foot treatment center, and complex wound care services.
The hospital warned that the reduction in services would deprive thousands of Palestinians of daily treatment and basic medical care.

Problems with generators
According to the facility's administration, the situation is compounded by shortages of medicines, medical supplies, lubricants, spare parts and tires. This threatens to halt power generators, ambulances and medical transport.
Gaza Health Ministry Director General Munir al-Bursh previously said that the WHO had decided to stop supplying diesel fuel to more than 20 hospitals and medical centers from September 19 due to a lack of funding. According to the ministry, several generators have already stopped operating in recent days because of the absence of resources needed for operation.
The hospital administration called on the WHO, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and other international organizations to intervene to prevent further deterioration of the situation in the Gaza Strip's healthcare system.
