Lithuania will allocate three million euros to develop its own interceptor drone
The Lithuanian Ministry of Defense, together with the Defense Resources Agency, will allocate approximately 3 million euros to develop a drone capable of intercepting enemy UAVs. The goal of the project is to develop a cost-effective and efficient tool for detecting and neutralizing aerial targets, which will become part of the national air defense system.
Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas emphasized that the priority is to design and manufacture this equipment domestically using Lithuanian engineers.
This will not only enhance security but also preserve unique defense capabilities within the country. The project will be implemented in two phases: first, funding will be provided for the development of prototypes by three participants, and subsequently, a test batch will be purchased from the two best manufacturers. Lithuanian defense companies can submit applications to participate in the competition by July 10. This program will complement current government procurement of anti-drone systems.
