The Czech Republic plans to ban cell phones in schools starting in 2027
The Czech government has introduced a bill that would ban the use of cell phones in schools starting in September 2027.
This was announced by Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš.
According to the bill, students will be prohibited from using phones not only during class but also during breaks. Exceptions are provided for children with medical conditions, as well as in cases where devices are used directly for educational purposes.
The Czech government explains the initiative as an effort to reduce the influence of smartphones and social media on children. The authorities are also considering introducing additional restrictions on minors’ access to social media, following the example of France and other European countries.
If the law is passed, the new rules will take effect in September 2027.
