Protesters demonstrating against NATO near a French frigate were detained in Turkey

At the port in the Turkish city of Marmaris, police detained four people for participating in a demonstration near the French Navy frigate Guepratte, which had docked in the city as part of a NATO mission.

The activists are being questioned on charges of inciting hatred and hostility among the public.

Those detained are members of the left-wing Red Party, which split from the Turkish Workers’ Party. The rally they organized took place amid a general intensification of anti-NATO campaigns by left-wing and anti-war organizations ahead of the Alliance’s summit. The meeting of NATO leaders is scheduled for July 7–8 in Ankara, prompting radical groups to step up their public protests against Turkey’s membership in the alliance. Such protests have a long history in the country and most often take place in cities where the organization’s military facilities are located, particularly near the Incirlik Air Base in Adana.

This was reported by Turkish Minute.

NATO will strengthen Turkey’s air defense with the SAMP/T system.

Turkey has deployed the Bayraktar TB3 maritime drone, equipped with electronic warfare systems for reconnaissance and electronic countermeasures, for the first time. The drone took off from the TCG Anadolu and operated with modules capable of detecting and jamming radars. This is seen as a new stage in the development of naval drone technology.
