Lithuania has called on Europe to prepare for drone incidents
Lithuanian Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas stated that European countries should prepare for an increase in the number of incidents involving drones. He was referring to so-called “stray” drones, to which EU member states must adapt their security and response systems.
He made these remarks in a comment to Euronews.
A day after an alert was issued in Vilnius due to a drone intrusion—which occurred amid a rise in similar incidents in the region over the past three weeks—Kaunas emphasized that Europe must be prepared for the high likelihood that such cases will increase.
"This is a new reality facing the Baltic states. We need to adapt, as the likelihood of similar scenarios recurring is very high," he emphasized.
In this context, Kaunas highlighted the importance of patrolling the airspace of the Baltic states.
