Lukashenko announced that Belarus is preparing for war
On April 1, Belarus’s self-proclaimed president, Alexander Lukashenko, convened a meeting to review the results of a comprehensive inspection of the country’s armed forces, attended by approximately 300 high-ranking military officials.
Lukashenko’s statement was reported by the Telegram channel “Pul Pervogo,” which is close to him.
During his speech, he emphasized that the army must be ready for combat operations, as this is the only way to deter potential adversaries. According to the dictator, it is futile to hope for peacetime at this point, so the country is forced to prepare for a military scenario.
Lukashenko stressed that Belarus is supposedly categorically against war, yet the army’s purpose lies precisely in conducting combat operations. He stated that training the troops is necessary so that the country is feared and no one dares to attack. The head of the Belarusian regime assured that any attempt to negotiate with Minsk at gunpoint would be met with an immediate response, for which the armed forces are already preparing.
The statement came against the backdrop of close military cooperation between Belarus and Russia and ongoing exercises along the borders with neighboring states. Although Lukashenko denies any desire to launch an aggression, rhetoric about mobilization readiness remains a key theme in his speeches. Military experts view such actions as part of a strategy of intimidation and support for joint plans with Russia to destabilize the region. Currently, combat readiness checks of Belarusian units are proceeding at an intensified pace.
Recall that Lukashenkoannounced a “major deal” with the U.S. at Trump’s suggestion.
Earlier, the U.S. and Lukashenko agreedon the release of more than 250 Belarusian political prisoners.
