Madyar displayed the artifacts found in the former ministry building
Hungary’s new Prime Minister, Péter Magyar, announced the discovery of dozens of bags containing shredded documents from Viktor Orbán’s previous government and campaign materials from the ruling party.
The politician announced this in a special video message on his Facebook page.
The political artifacts were found in the building of the former Ministry of Construction and Transport, where the current head of government’s office is currently being set up.
During an inspection of the premises, the new head of the Hungarian government showed items left behind by his predecessors. According to him, large-scale destruction of documents was observed in the offices of the former ministry.
“Interesting findings” are located directly in the building, where at least 15–20 bags of shredded documents from the previous government are being stored.
The prime minister speculated that the former ministry leadership simply did not have time to evacuate the document archive in time.
That is why Viktor Orbán’s government officials made a hasty decision to physically destroy important papers using shredders.
In addition to the destroyed documents, Péter Magyar discovered state flags and a large quantity of printed materials in the building. Among the findings were numerous leaflets and posters bearing the political slogan “Fidesz is a reliable choice.”
This imagery was actively used during mass rallies organized by the political party of Hungary’s former prime minister.
The discovered evidence may serve as grounds for initiating official legal proceedings against officials of the former ruling administration. Currently, lawyers are analyzing the scope of the materials found to build a case.
